Notes: Teams in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series will be running the same combination of left- and right-side tires at Atlanta this weekend . . . this is the same left--side tire code (D-4384) that these teams have run the last two seasons at this track . . . this new right-side tire code (D-4602) is making its debut at Atlanta and incorporates Goodyear Racings new zone tread technology . . . the tire combines the compound that has recently been run at Kansas and Michigan on the inside three inches of the tread, with the compound run at Atlanta for the last seasons across the rest of the tread . . . the concept will give teams endurance and heat resistance on the inside third of the tire and traction on the outside two-thirds . . . while Goodyear has used the multi-zone concept on passenger tires before, this is its first application in NASCAR . . . this tire was confirmed at a Goodyear test with 13 drivers at Atlanta on August 6 . . . drivers participating in that test were Aric Almirola, Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Kasey Kahne, Matt Kenseth, Brad Keselowski, Jamie McMurray, Casey Mears, Paul Menard, David Ragan, David Reutimann, Martin Truex Jr. and J.J. Yeley . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run liners in all four tire positions at Atlanta. . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
